Learning through sound and lineage

Saxophone and jazz skills

Led by Juma Tutu. Tone production, jazz scales, improvisation and East African melodic patterns for intermediate to advanced players.

Composition and arranging

Writing Swahili Jazz by blending jazz harmony, Swahili poetic lyrics, Hijaz and Bayati modes, and Mijikenda rhythmic structures.

Youth sessions

For students aged 12-18: East African heritage, hands-on instrument exploration and songwriting in schools or community venues.

Masterclasses

Deep sessions for advanced students and professionals. Past collaborators include Ted Mwangi, Emmanuel Olabode and Nafsi Huru.
